French Creek Valley - Educating for Responsible Service in the Kingdom of God
Renewed
Reorganized

August 25, 2009.  That evening the school board stood before a meeting of the association and announced that French Creek Valley Christian School (FCVCS) had to close. There was simply no way to make the budget work and the board was not going to start another year in the red.  Bills were past due, teachers were not getting paid, and enrollment had shrunk. Needless to say, everyone was shocked.  Staff were out of a job and parents had no school for their children, with less than a week until school was to start .  It was a difficult decision, but one that honored God.

That evening ended with the suggestion of reorganizing and starting something new.  Something definitely different than the educational approach of years gone by.  A non-traditional educational facility.

The question was asked, “Who wants their children here at FCVCS no matter what it looks like?”  Many left, looking for structure.  A remnant committed to starting over; to educating their children in a Biblical World View at FCVCS no matter what it took.  No matter what the format.  Families willing to sacrifice for FCVCS.

Ironically, 30 years ago, a similar group of families came together and united as one to form Pro-Rege Christian School, later changing their name to French Creek Valley Christian School.  Irony, or God’s perfect timing?

Someone pointed out that Christ did not start his ministry until he was 30 yrs of age.  Then he changed the world.   So here we are, 30 yrs old.  Standing with new vision, new direction, & a new staff.  Reborn, renewed, and reorganized.  Our eyes are fixed upon the Lord with renewed strength.  Committed never again to be modeled after the public school system.  We will be different than the world.  We will be a light unto our community and beyond.

Praise God we now have a balanced budget, bills are current, and we are making payments to our former staff.  Already we hear good testimony of what God is doing in our midst.  Thank you for partnering with us in this Endeavour.  Please keep us in your prayers.
